New product cleared by FDA to collect and preserve SARS-CoV-2 with the industry’s fastest turnaround time
Guilford, ME — Today, Puritan Medical Products—America’s swab experts—announced the release of its groundbreaking new product, PurSafe Plus®. PurSafe Plus® is intended for the collection, inactivation, and preservation of human upper respiratory specimens suspected of containing SARS-CoV2. Specimens collected and preserved in the PurSafe Plus® Collection and Transport System are suitable for use with legally marketed molecular diagnostic devices, revolutionizing the field of rapid diagnostics. Puritan will exhibit PurSafe Plus® and other products at AMP 2025 (Booth #1129) from November 11th to 15th in Boston, Massachusetts.
To reduce the testing turnaround times related to SARS-CoV2, PurSafe Plus® can provide results in under an hour without compromising quality. With the ability to preserve samples up to 4 weeks at 86 degrees Fahrenheit, PurSafe Plus® ensures reliable preservation upon contact. Available with or without a swab, PurSafe Plus® has officially been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for SARS-CoV-2 use. Validation studies for additional respiratory viruses—including influenza and RSV—are currently in progress, with the goal of expanding the applications of PurSafe Plus® for broader medical and environmental use.
